Correfocs or literally in English “fire-runs”, are among the most striking features present in many Spanish festivals. In the correfoc, a group of indivudals will dress as devils and light fireworks. While dancing to the drums of a traditional gralla, they will set off their fireworks among crowds of spectators. The pictures show the finale to La Nucia’s festival (La Asuncion de la Madre de Dios) which takes place in August. Crowds of people follow the “devils” through the narrow streets braving jets of flame and giant walls of fire before the spectacular grand finale in front of the church in the main square.
