Why should I hire a professional photographer?

Most people nowadays own some form of digital camera and it is easy to assume that these cameras will "do everything" and virtually take the photographs themselves. Nothing could be further from the truth. A professional photographer will be experienced in lighting, exposure, composition, colour balance, file formats, image quality, output resolution and many, more modern techniques that include hi-definition photography and multimedia slideshows.. He or she will be able to offer advice and help at every step of the process and be able to offer a fee that is appropriate to the way in which the client wants to use the finished images. A good quality photograph can put across your message more powerfully, it can set out your product from all of the others and it can stand alone as a testament or witness to an event.

How do you price your work?

Photography fees are normally calculated in terms of time and usage fees, Time can be a half day or a full day shoot and usage fees will vary according to the clients needs. Turnaround would normally be around five days unless otherwise agreed. A set of images for use in a company brochure would cost less than a set of images destined for a advertising billboards or a popular glossy magazine. What type of photography commissions do you undertake?

I have 23 years experience working for UK and European national newspapers & magazines and have also undertaken commercial work for a wide variety of clients in the UK and more recently here in Spain. I mainly shoot editorial assignments but I am available to shoot many other different types of assignment including feature stories, news, portraits, industrial photography, aerial photography, portfolios, public relations and sport. Do you shoot weddings?

I have undertaken a small number of weddings (See the galleries) although this is not my normal area of expertise. Having said that, all of my previous wedding clients have been very satisfied with my work. If you want traditional "soft-focus" wedding photography I would advise you to seek out a dedicated wedding photographer who will be an expert in this type of work.. If you want something a little bit different and shot in a photo reportage style then by all means please contact me and I will discuss it with you.

What equipment do you use?

I shoot entirely in high quality digital format using top of the range Nikon cameras and lenses. The last time a client asked me to shoot on film was around seven years ago!

Can I book you for 1 hour only?

This is not possible. Even if the shoot only takes 1 hour the rest of the day would be spent on post-processing including colour correction, file formatting and transmission or burning to discs. For small jobs with a quick turnaround a half-day may be sufficient.

When do I pay you?

A few days after you have received your images I will send you an invoice / factura. Payment must be made within 28 days of the date marked on the invoice.
